My response to The Jerusalem Post’s article:
Wikileaks: 'Saudis on Iran: Cut off the head of the snake'

In practical terms, President Obama is correct in stating the leaks to the press have put many people in danger. This is rather - and frighteningly - obvious. The reason their lives are in danger now, however, is their own fault - all because of their double-talk.
I could understand why some nations’ leaders publicly state a completely different agenda then they do in private conversations and in private negotiations with other nations. I understand their reasons, but I simply do not condone this double-talk.
There is a strong movement for world peace, which has started at the grass-roots level. Unfortunately, there is also a strong contingency of people who are against peace. World leaders who want Iran and North Korea stopped, and who publicly speak blatantly or not about supporting these countries and their hateful ways, demonstrate fear of hate-mongers. Ironically, and definitely not in a funny way, these same leaders are spreading and supporting messages of hate that they do not actually mean.
If one thinks about it, it makes no sense. Ideally, as well as by definition, a leader is supposed to...lead - duh! So what does their lying actually accomplish? Why, the continuance of hate, of course. So, it seems to me, these leaders want to continue their respective countries’ hatred of others, Israel and the U.S. in particular, just please don’t let anyone have the ability to blow us all up to Kingdom Come! We’ll take our hatred out in smaller, less destroying-the-whole-world kind of way, thank you very much!
These same leaders are afraid of upsetting the zealots who, by and large, have a lot of power. But why exactly do these zealots have that much power? Answer: because these leaders don’t lead their people in stopping the zealots. Plainly, they are afraid of leading. So, while privately opposed to this violence - and hate-mongering - they publicly support the status quo.
Let us take a look at the endgame of these hate-mongering zealots, shall we? When a society raises their children, steeped in hatred for anyone who does not believe as they do, what happens if they win (from their point of view) and destroy all of the “infidels”? I’ll tell you what happens: their people turn on them, and each other, until they wind up destroying themselves. Why, you ask?
It’s simple. If you achieve your goal of killing all of the people who are “infidels”, you will be the only ones left. The fact that your society stirs up hatred, teaches hatred, and lives with hatred as a way of life, all of that hatred will not simply stop once everyone who is different is gone. It can’t, because it is a way of life; therefore, hateful people will look for some other group to hate.
The obvious endgame is destruction of the world and everyone in it. This promotion and promulgation of hate truly makes no sense.
So maybe the world leaders who publicly demonstrate “strength” (so they think!) by verbally denigrating Israel, the U.S., etc., are now exposed for the privately practical people they are. Well, it’s about time. Take a real stand, show some real strength, and start publicly telling your people the truth! The truth always gets exposed eventually.
We are all different as individuals, and as groups. This is what G-d wants. It is because of our differences we each have something to contribute to this world. It is because of these differences we need to learn how to work together, starting with treating others with respect. We have so much to learn from each other.
While these exposed double-talking leaders are now “outed”, to borrow a term, they need to quickly come together and start rounding up support for peace. They need to stop cowering from the zealots in their midst and start rounding those people up and locking them away until everyone sees there is no room, in a world that truly wants to survive, for those who prefer violence to “solve” their differences.
Because I realize people in power revere their gods of power, money, and greed, I offer you another truth. Peace actually leads to prosperity for all. Now why is that so scary? By the way, as everyone knows, running away from your problems - or trying to hide from them - never makes them go away! I’m just saying!
