Tribute to Debbie Friedman

Tribute to Debbie Friedman
A beautiful person, singer, and songwriter, Debbie Friedman has left this world a better place for having been the recipient of her gifts. She blessed us all who knew and loved her, and her music, while she was here. Debbie had a beautiful voice, and was very spiritual. If you have never heard her sing, you will love this song. If you have, you will probably cry like I did today. While she may physically have left us, her music will never die! Some of Debbie’s songs became standard prayers in many temples in the Reform Jewish movement.
This particular song, “L’chi lach”, is a play on the famous words G-d said to Abraham in Genesis 12:1, lech l’cha. Go to where you will be, go to your destiny, become what you will be, and there are some other translations too. In the case of this song, live where you will be, live where you are, etc.
Listen to an angel who now resides in heaven. Thank you, Debbie Friedman, for blessing us all, you were truly blessed! You were, and will be a blessing always. (If you listen to this song, you will understand my little play on her words.) As you listen to this song, and many others I hope, you too will feel how deeply spiritual Debbie Friedman was, and her music will lift your soul as it always does mine.
I hope the person who made this video tribute doesn’t mind my borrowing it, but I believe it was a gift meant to be shared. Thank you for making it! May everyone who watches this, loved her, and loved her music, be now and always blessed with peace! Shalom.
